My name is Joe Lorenzi. I am an owner and founder of Lorenzi’s Boxing Inc. I have been involved with boxing for over 21 years.
When I was 15 years old I walked through the doors of Twin Ports boxing in Duluth, MN. I was a young kid with no direction and no male role models in my life. Through five years and 70+ amateur boxing matches I decided to give it a try on the professional stage. I competed in nine professional matches and traveled extensively during this time.
It was in 2008 I decided that I wanted to give back to my community just as those who taught me. I wanted to create a place where kids and adults could come in off the street and learn. I believe in teaching not just boxing, but how to navigate life. I believe this comes from discipline, hard work, dedication, and self-confidence.
My dreams and aspirations led me to work not just with competitive boxers, but also with people that don’t want to compete. These people still have fitness goals of being in the best condition they can. It’s my job they help them achieve that goal.
I am proud to say after ten years I have been fortunate enough to work with thousands of people in the Twin Ports area. We have also put on over 40 amateur boxing events in the last 7 years.
I feel blessed to be able to share my love for the great sport of boxing with people in my community. I also am so very excited to share this gift with my family!
Stop in and check us out!
I was born in Duluth, MN on November, 18th 1980. I moved around the state of Minnesota until I was six and settled in Duluth. I attended Lowell Elementary School until finishing at Duluth Central. While in high school I was a two sport athlete playing football and basketball, and during my senior year, my daughter Paige Elizabeth was born. After high school I continued to find ways to participate in athletics. Me, my brother, and close friend Carlos Gonzalez began to coach jr league football here in Duluth leading the KC Raiders here in Duluth to four city championships in eight years. After my years of coaching youth football came to an end I still had the desire to continue to coach and mentor the youth of Duluth. That is when I became a regular at Lorenzi's Boxing Gym. The valuable experience of watching successes and failures of the members of the gym, the hard work and life lessons learned have all been an inspiration to keep pushing these young people to pursue their dreams and instill work ethics and dedication to their craft.
I was born and raised in Hawaii. After graduating from high school and attending one semester of college at the University of Hawaii, I decided that I needed a change of pace. In 2004, I moved to Duluth to attend UMD. I planned on staying for only one semester, but I loved Duluth so much that I stayed! I graduated from UMD in 2007 with a BBA degree.
Living in Duluth has given me a huge appreciation for the outdoors and staying active. Whether it’s exploring the great outdoors, snowboarding, or getting my fitness on in the gym, I enjoy living an active lifestyle.
For about a year, I worked out at Lorenzi’s Boxing and also trained in Muay Thai, explosive conditioning, and self-defense. I grew to love everything about boxing and martial arts. In 2013, I moved to the Twin Cities and joined a hybrid gym, training with tractor tires, rope climbing, kickboxing, and weight lifting.
In April of 2016, my family – my wife and two dogs – and I sold our home in the cities and moved back to Duluth. We missed the outdoors and the amazing people here. I am so excited to be back at Lorenzi’s and couldn’t be happier about the opportunity to work as a coach! I love meeting and working with new people, and I look forward to the opportunity to help you reach your fitness goals!

Hi, I am Coach Amy!
I am 19 years old and attend the University of Wisconsin Superior. I am majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology. I played hockey and was the goalie throughout high school and broke all of Proctor's goaltending records. Unfortunately, my hockey career was ended by a knee injury, so my main focus is now boxing.
I started boxing with I was 13 as a way to lose weight, but quickly fell in love with the sport and started fighting about a year in to starting at Lorenzi's Boxing. I have continued boxing and my record is 10-2, and I am ranked number 5 in North America for my weight class. I am not only passionate about the sport of boxing, but coaching it!

Hi! I’m Coach Alissa, and I’m so excited to join Lorenzi’s coaching team! I started coming to the gym, for ladies kickboxing and cardio boxing, in February of 2016 and it’s been one of my favorite places to workout ever since. Originally I was here just for the awesome workout, but after being around the gym and fighters for a while, I started to get in the ring. In November of 2016 I started training with the fighters, sparring, and now have had 6 amateur boxing fights. I’ve always had an interest in combat sports, so it’s awesome to now participate in and coach one! Outside of the gym, I stay pretty active with my dog, between hiking, running, and biking, we do a lot of exploring of this awesome area! Running is another sport I’ve taken up in the past several years. I used to dread running but now have ran 2 full and 2 half marathons, with a goal to run a marathon in every state. Living a healthy and active life is important to me and I want to help others reach their health and wellness goals! Feel free to contact (320-292-1279) if you’re interested in 1 on 1 training/fitness sessions.
Hello, my name is Jason Mirkovich. I am a registered Amateur Coach with USA Boxing. I love helping people achieve their goals. I volunteer with Grandma’s Marathon, the Airshow, and Drag Races every year. I am a recovering alcoholic with 10 years of sobriety. I was given a second chance at life, so here I am today to give my time and heart to this boxing gym. I give 150% at everything I set my heart and mind to, or don’t do it at all. My desire is to train anyone that wants the best for themselves, and to help them reach their personal goals in life. If you want to set goals, be pushed to achieve them and become part of a great family, then I truly recommend coming through those doors as I did.
Hi, I am Coach Brian. I graduated from Denfeld High School where I spent most of my years playing football and studying Self Defense. As an adult, I have always maintained an interest in health and wellness and take pride in staying active with my family. I have been involved in youth sports throughout the community for the past decade. I enjoy being a positive role model for adolescents who are looking to push themselves physically and mentally. I am a current USA Boxing Certified trainer with Lorenzi’s Boxing. My focus is pushing our youth team to their full potential.
Hey everyone I’m Coach Britta! I started coming to Lorenzi’s about a year ago for cardio boxing and then made the best decision to join the coaching staff. Joining the gym and the coaching staff has completely changed my life and I have loved every part of it! Recently, I have also started training to fight. It sure has been a new and amazing journey so far. Before boxing I played hockey for 15 years, tennis for 6 years and also played division 1 tennis at UND. I love sports! They have always been a huge part of my life and boxing has also become one of the sports I really enjoy. When I’m not at the gym or in the ring I have two other awesome jobs. I’m a registered nurse and have been for about 4 years. I love every day I get to work with my patients! I also work in the woods for my dads logging business since I was in high school. It’s hard work, but it sure has made me into a stronger person! I am currently working on becoming a USA boxing certified official and USA boxing certified coach. I look forward to meeting new people everyday and having a positive impact on their fitness journey!

I went back to college when I was 51 years old to get my BA degree. I graduate in May 2018 with Major in Psychology and a Minor in Communications from UWS. I have been intrigued with boxing from a very young age. When I heard of Lorenzi's Boxing gym I just knew I had to be part of it. I have also taken Zumba, Pilates, and Yoga classes over the last 3 years and it has helped me stay fit and reach my personal fitness goals. I love to be active and move around so I try to incorporate as much variety of fitness as I can.
